Tomorrow, 1/15/2025, international player signings begin. This year, the big prize is Roki Sasaki, and basically all MLB teams would like his services. He has already rejected and will not sign with the SF Giants, Texas Rangers, NY Mets, NY Yankees, and others. As a Yankees fan, that is disappointing to hear. The last time a Japanese star player chose the Yankees was Masahiro Tanaka, and that was 10 years ago. Even though all along I knew he would not choose the Yankees, there was hope, even if it's just a minuscule amount of hope, and when there's hope, there's disappointment. That's just how it is. His three finalists are the Dodgers, Padres, and Blue Jays. I can't believe the Blue Jays have more chance than the Yankees or Mets. I wish him luck, and the Yankees let another Japanese star slip away. How times have changed.
